Rolling for Maximum HP
Go for it. The monsters in the scaled encounters never come out of the chute having rolled minimal HP on leveling for ten levels. There exists a script that boosts a PCs HP to the maximum on a temporary basis. If I can find a way to make that permanent, I will use it. Otherwise rolling until the dice co-operate is the only way.
Banking Skill Points
Bad form all around, especially when saved by a fighter for 20 levels and then used when taking the 21st level as a rogue. I've made some really nice builds with this technique, but I don't feel proud of having done it and none of mine here will be made that way. I have a script that I could put in to prevent this, but it is really humiliating for the players and I would rather not use it.
Taking One Level ...
... for the trademark class benefit. Cheesy. People will snicker at you behind your back. Plus, mixing some classes together just makes no RP sense. Again, I could script this, but I am hoping that our playerbase will be reasonable. If I had to pull a number out of a hat, I would say three levels indicates some real commitment to a class. With 40 levels to play with, it should not be necessary to resort to one level of something just to get a desired PrC.
Swapping Familiars/Companions
A familiar or companion is a creature with a special bond to the character. It is not something to be swapped out at Level X for the next in a series. If you find you have made a serious mistake in terms of RP reasons, you may request to change. For instance, suppose you picked a Hell Hound for a familiar and then realized that Hell Hounds are actually hounds from Hell and not just big dogs with cool-looking eyes. It would be permitted to RP the loss of this creature for one more suited to your character's nature.
